Mission Trip Opportunity!
We’re very excited to be able to answer God’s call to help those in need in Staten Island, NY to help them rebuild from Super Storm Sandy damage. We’ll be leaving St. John’s at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 8th. We will work for an organization called Tunnel to Towers (their origin is in honor of a fallen fire fighter on 9/11) for 2 days on Saturday and Sunday. We will leave after working on Sunday Nov 10th and arrive back in Dover by 9 PM. It’s a 5 hour drive.
Our accommodations will be at a church that has opened their doors to groups doing this work. They have cleared away all of their furniture and such so we’ll be sleeping on air mattresses that you will bring. We will cook our own food and fellowship together on Saturday night.
We’re looking for God to call 12 people to go. The cost is $120 a person – including transportation in our vehicles, lodging and meals from Sat AM to Sunday PM. This opportunity has appeared in other outlets prior to this mailing so we already have some interested team members. Our work will depend on your skills but mostly likely doing insulation installation, dry wall installation, dry wall mudding, priming and painting. As with other trips, until we are actually there, we won’t know our exact assignments.
Cheri Nixon and Mike Willett are coordinating this trip. Please see them in church as soon as possible and watch for announcements for a team meeting prior to the trip.
Thanks be to God that we have the opportunity to be his hands and feet in action here and now.
