Our five mission team members met at Saint Johns on Friday aftwrnoon and after a devotion we started our trip to Staten Island NY. We were hoping for a five hour drive but ran into heavy traffic in Massachusetts. We were also surprised by snow flurries as we drove toward a beautiful sunset on route 495.

The drive through Connecticut and into New York State went well and and we enjoyed views of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge as we worked our way through the city. After six hours of driving we arrived at the New Dorp Moravian Church, our host for the two plus days on this trip.

We met Pastor Duane and his wife who greeted us at the same time as another group of thirty five from Wisconsin got back from their day of work on Staten Island. This group of 30+ youth and half dozen adults make this trip annually to work on various community projects.

All on our team were eager to start our first full day on Saturday morning.

In his service,
Mike Willett
