The 2014 Katrina Mission Team will be commissioned at both services on Sunday, April 6. We are again working with the St. Bernard Project, www.stbernardproject.org. This year we are staying in a private home in Slidell donated by a member of St. John’s, at no expense.

Because Easter falls at the beginning of area school vacation week, we cannot spend our usual four days on the road to and from New Orleans. Each team member must raise the additional funds for airfare, in order to commit to working five days with the St. Bernard Project. The minimum age is fourteen, and participants do not need to be members of St. John’s. We are still open for at least one more team member.

Our December Katrina Mission team supper raised $725 after expenses, adding a substantial amount to the financial assistance available to those team members in need. A member of St. John’s has donated the cost of a rental van while in New Orleans. Another member has donated frequent flyer miles for one of our members. We are very grateful to our church family, as well as to the Greater Dover community.

Reservations have been made for most of our 13-member team to depart on Monday, April 21, 2014 and return home Tuesday, April 29. Because of support mentioned above, the fee has been lowered to $185, plus airfare and personal spending money. We still expect to make a substantial monetary contribution to SBP.

As we have requested before, please pray for this mission team, that God will provide what is necessary for us to serve Him as He calls each one of us.
