Spread the Love of God…Join a Guatemalan Mission Team: May 10-18, 2014

Join team leaders Linda Brewster and Michael Davis. Totally inclusive cost $2000.00. No experience necessary – only a Christ centered heart and the desire to make a difference in the life of others. We are completing the May team and will need to hear from you in the next couple of weeks if you are interested!

Tri-State District has adopted an international mission project – Project Salud Y Paz – an Advance special of the GBOD and a project supported by the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. Salud Y Paz serves the Mayan Indians in the Highlands (mountainous region) of Guatemala.

This area is impoverished with an average yearly income of $360.00 per person. Generations of families live together – often a dozen people living in a 12’x12’ home with a dirt floor, no doors or windows on the openings, no furniture, no heat, no electricity, and no clean water. In addition to these living conditions, children are rarely educated beyond the 2nd grade – leaving school to work for the family. There is little health care and the health care available is inadequate. Children are malnourished; 57% of children under age 5 die of diseases that we easily treat with vaccines and medications.

Tri-State District and Mid-Maine District sent folks on 2 teams to work with Salud Y Paz in 2012, and they had 4 teams travel to Guatemala in 2013. Work is varied and requires no more than a willing heart to make a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Guatemala.

If you have a desire to know more, if you have questions, we would love to provide you with the information that will help you answer God’s call in your life. If you would like an application for the mission team, let us know! We would be happy to forward an application and more information to you. God calls us to love one another. Won’t you help us to make a difference in the lives of our Guatemalan brothers and sisters in Christ? Consider joining us on the May mission team to Guatemala.
