Worship offered in the “spirit” of Taizé
Many will remember the stories we heard from Ashlee Whitehouse and Brenda Borchers about the life changing experience they had in 2013, when they traveled with our Bishop to Taizé, France – and experienced the rhythms of study, service and worship that the brothers live there. Not that their experience could be replicated, but that we all might experience a bit of the sense of being on “holy ground,” which they experienced, our Worship Committee is presenting another worship service, in the spirit of Taizé, on Wednesday, October 22nd.
The evening will begin at 6:30 PM, with a brief study of the biblical passage that will be read during the service (there is no sermon during the service). Then, at 7 PM, we will begin the service, which “is more like a melodic, holy rhythm than the frenzied pace of everyday life. . . Instead of blaring music 24/7, we can light some candles and pray together in song. Instead of working up a great talk, we can read Scripture and sit together in silent prayer.”
If this sounds like it would be a blessing for you, please plan to come. And why not bring a friend with you?
