At St. John’s we rejoice in the Light that God brought into the world on that first Christmas night. And as generations before us have done, we gather as a church family (friends old and young – recent and long standing) to celebrate his arrival.
There will be three worship experiences and a concert presented on Christmas Eve at St. John’s. Each service will be different, but communion will be offered at each. The familiar Christmas story will be told, and our favorite Christmas carols will be sung.
At 6:30 PM we will gather for our traditional Family Worship, with your favorite Christmas Carols, the Adult Choir, a story and communion – ending with the creation of a live nativity scene, with all the children who would like to participate taking part. This service will be led by Pastor Mark.
The first of two Candlelight Communion Services will begin at 9 PM, and will be led by one of our Clergy Emeritus, Rev. Les Pettit. Like the later service, this will conclude outdoors with the lighting of candles and the singing of “Silent Night.”
And the evening will come to a close with our 11 PM Candlelight Communion Service, which will include the sung (to Christmas carol tunes) communion liturgy.
If you’re in town for Christmas, worship with your church family is vitally important. Have friends coming to spend Christmas Eve with you? Bring them to worship, and enrich their holiday as well.
