LIMERICK MAINE VIM TEAM ANNOUNCED

On May 11 Outreach Ministries and the Wednesday Men’s Small Group met jointly to hear a proposal to form a VIM (Volunteers in Mission) team to demolish and replace a family’s deck in Limerick, Maine. Greg and Michelle are a licensed therapeutic family, providing a safe and nurturing home for the most severely developmentally disabled abused and neglected children.

Sheryl Adams of Buxton UMC, Drew Williams and Patrick Murphy visited Greg and Michelle earlier this spring. Sheryl profiled the family and summarized the fund raising efforts. Drew presented his $1,650 at-cost contractor proposal, and offered to serve as foreman. To date, Sheryl and Michelle have coordinated raising over $1,500.

We made the decision to form work crews for up to three days, beginning on Saturday, June 11 and continuing on June 18 and one other day. Sign-up instructions will be announced in the Sunday bulletins and on our church web site. Our volunteers will join local Boy Scouts and other local volunteers on Demolition Saturday 6/11. Smaller work crews will build the replacement deck. Breakfast, coffee, lunch and water will be provided.

Donations are being accepted to help complete funding this project. Checks with the notation “Limerick Maine Deck Project” can be placed in the collection plate or left in the church office. If you have any questions or suggestions, contact Drew or Patrick.
